07/02/20: Meet Annie Murphy. She is the Adoption and Foster Home Licensing Social Worker for Pender County Department of Social Services and a EYFP partner. She sat on the panel of experts for our EYFP Community Event for the screening of Resiliency.
As an adoption social worker, she recruits, trains and licenses new families to be adoptive foster parents, assisting with the matching and placing of children in foster homes. She also visits foster homes to assure compliance with licensure requirements and provides community training opportunities for foster families. Her main goal is to find and train families to ultimately provide permanency for a child.
She has worked over 26 years in this field and has held many important positions helping children find good homes and educating families about childhood trauma and adversity.
The Pender County Department of Social Services and the Child Placement Unit’s mission statement is to “improve the quality of life for Pender County citizens by ensuring effective service delivery for all clients and motivating clients to accept some personal responsibility for improving their situation in order to become self-sufficient.”
Child Placement Unit strives to ensure safety, well-being and timely permanence for children in foster care. Also helps to strengthen and reunite families.
We are very proud to have Annie Murphy, Pender County Department of Social Services and Child Placement Unit as one of our invaluable partners.
