Carteret County began programming for the Spring 2019 Empowering Youth and Families Program on February 14th. Each family will participate in a twelve session program that is designed to strengthen their relationships and empower them to lead community change. Families will also take part in a weekend retreat at Eastern 4-H Center in June, where they will learn community action planning and create a vision for opioid misuse prevention in their community. Virginia Freeman is the Program Assistant for Carteret County EYFP. A participating youth in the program says, “I’m glad I get to spend time with my parents like this and meet new people, I’m having fun!” This is the first family cohort that will participate in EYFP in Carteret County.
