03/25/19 Week 5: Week five of programming for Onslow County consisted of parents working to understand the value of good listening and how to listen for what their kids are feeling. In the family session, our participants learned how to build their listening skills and solve problems together as a family.
In the youth session, our young men worked with the facilitators to understand that drugs and alcohol will hurt them, and they practiced skills for resisting peer pressure. The youth did a fantastic job resisting the pressure that facilitators tried to apply to them. They actually knew to suggest another route in order to get out of a situation before they were instructed to do so–impressive!
