5/11/21: We had a great time at our fifth session (Session E) of EYFP. We ate hamburgers from Ten-3, a local diner, and talked to the family about confluence. During the youth session, we played games, talked about our weeks and what has been positive or stressful about them, and discussed adult influence. The youth thought about influential adults in their lives and made sticky notes of them to add to our adult support chart, and then we talked about how those people have influenced them. The youth each wrote thank you cards to one of these adults and personalized it how ever they wanted with drawings and stickers.
Over in the other room, the caregivers discussed the community. They played a trivia game of all the different resources in Claiborne county, talked about community events and how they make an impact on the community, and discussed any community events that the caregivers have attended in recent years.
After the youth and caregiver session ended, everyone joined back together for the family session. For that session, the family played Pictionary and worked on their community art project. It was so fun to play Pictionary with the family. They had a blast trying to guess what everyone was drawing. The youngest kid showed us how to hop like a frog because acting it out is easier than drawing a frog. It is fun to watch the youth be entirely themselves and to watch the caregiver laugh right along with them as they play around. This session was very educational and the family had a great time bonding and working together as a team.
