Burke County will begin programming for the Spring 2019 Empowering Youth and Families Program on Tuesday, March 19th. Each family will participate in a twelve session program that is designed to strengthen their relationships and empower them to lead community change. Families will also take part in a weekend retreat at Black Mountain YMCA Assembly in May, where they will learn community action planning and create a vision for opioid misuse prevention in their community. Erica Baxter, the Program Assistant for Burke County EYFP, says, “We are excited to bring this program to the families of Burke County and are looking forward to our first cohort starting next month.” This is the first family cohort that will participate in EYFP in Burke County.
