Yancey County began programming for the Spring 2019 Empowering Youth and Families Program on Monday, February 18th. Each family will participate in a twelve session program that is designed to strengthen their relationships and empower them to lead community change. Families will also take part in a weekend retreat at Black Mountain YMCA Assembly in May, where they will learn community action planning and create a vision for opioid misuse prevention in their community. Niki Maness is the Program Assistant for Yancey County EYFP. This is the third family cohort that will participate in EYFP in Yancey County.
