3/20/21: On March 30, 2021, Montgomery County held its first EYFP Cohort since Spring of 2019. Due to Covid-19 restrictions beginning to lift certain regulations, the staff was able to hold their Spring 2021 EYFP Cohort in person at the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension Office. As the meeting began, introductions were done by the staff and family members present. Each youth and caregiver was given a pre-survey and media release form to be completed. Once families were finished with their meals and paperwork, the youth and caregivers were separated to begin our Session A meeting.
During session A, both groups worked with the members of other families and created a list of expectations that would serve as guidelines during their session. During the youth session, they learned about the different types of changes that they have or will go through, what characteristics make them who they are, and how to view their family members as a team.
During the caregiver session, they learned about understanding the developmental stages of their youth and how to respond to the behavior of their youth in a more appropriate manner. The conversation held between the caregiver’s session and the youth session was great and we all look forward to Session B!
