3/7/19 Week 2: In the youth room, during our second session of EYFP, the kids did an activity where we taped index cards to each person back and everyone had to go around and anonymously write compliments on each person’s index card. Once each person made it around to every card, we sat all of the kids down, pulled the cards off their backs and allowed them to privately read them. Then, we gave them a chance to share with us all what some of the compliments were, if they felt comfortable enough to read them out to us. The kids that did choose to share aloud with everyone, really just lit up, smiling from ear to ear seeing what all the good things that their peers had to say about them were. Both the parents and the kids very much so were involved in tonight’s activities and lessons.
The kids really enjoyed and NEEDED the positive feedback and compliments that they received from their peers and friends during the index card activity. In a world where society is constantly tearing each other down, they really needed to be uplifted and help to build each other up.
