3/10/20 Week 6: In Session of SFP 10-14, parents learned ways to protect their youth against drug and alcohol abuse. They also learned ways to interact effectively with their youth’s school.
Parents wrote heartfelt letters to their youth telling them how much they love them and want good things for them.
In the youth session, youth learned skills for resisting peer pressure. We also discussed what good friends are like, and what qualities they have. Youth played two games.
One was the “Road Signs” game and the other was “Go Fishin.” They really enjoyed the games and learned so much in the process.
In the final session, family meetings were held to discuss ways youth can avoid drug and alcohol abuse. The families also talked about other behavioral problems.
Parents set clear expectations for their youth and read their heartfelt letters to them. It was an emotional experience and the bonding went to another level.
One parent stated, “My youth looks forward to coming to EYFP on Tuesday evenings. She is really growing. She is getting up on time for school and has earned points on her rewards chart.”
This is what EYFP is all about!
