03/27/20: The EYFP Program Assistant for Brunswick and New Hanover counties, Haylee Allen, along with the 4-H Agents for each county, and community partners including the Wilmington Housing Authority, Wilmington Police Department, and New Hanover County Community Justice Services – Youth Empowerment Services strive to maintain engagement will EYFP families, both past and present, through various activities.
New Hanover County 4-H Agent, Scott Enroughty assisted with assembling garden starter kits that were delivered to EYFP families in the Wilmington Housing Authority communities of Hillcrest and Houston Moore. While following physical distancing guidelines, Hattie Mciver, the ROSS Service Coordinator with the Wilmington Housing Authority, helped to deliver these kits that aim to keep EFYP families engaged and promote family bonding and resilience during the COVID-19 world-wide pandemic.
There are plans to continue engagement efforts while programming is suspended due to COVID-19, in an effort to strengthen relationships with EYFP families and community partners.
