04/01/19 Week 4: This week we discussed responsibilities in depth. The youth played several games that illustrated the importance of communication and respecting the various boundaries that are set for them in life.
Our main activity was centered around the responsibilities that come with driving a car and the possible consequences (both good and bad) that are involved. The parents focused on how to appropriately weigh chores and privileges in their homes. Big problems receive big penalties, and small problems receive small penalties. They brainstormed different penalty options for both sizes of problems.
Creating family shields was the highlight of our session. Both families enjoyed looking through magazine clippings to see which ones photos best represented the values they feel are most important in their homes.
